Is the news that New Mexico generated 16,000 new jobs last year a good thing? Well, it is better than a stick in the eye, but it is hardly worthy of praise coming from the editor of the Journal and head of the Chamber of Commerce. Those two seemed joined at the hip in turning tepid news into sensational news. The fact is it is pretty dismal performance and probably represents jobs at the lowest levels of wages. This is the Journal's way of saying that the republican Governor and Mayor of Albuquerque are actually showing leadership.
Speaking of sticks in the eye, I had an APD family comment on some of my comments that surely shows the 'us vs. them' attitude is still alive and well at APD. This is all because of a comment I made that the death of an officer from a heart attack was sad, but that this kind of attention would never be afforded other city workers with dangerous jobs. Here is the comment that I think is the main problem with the culture at APD. It is hateful.

Lynette wrote: "Jim Baca, Excuse you, SIR! Who the hell are you to be speaking in this manner? Perhaps you are upset because when you die, (you are old, so I'm hoping you are right with your maker), no one will care. WHY you say? Because you sir, are an asshole! Take that from a women who knows better! My APD family mourns this loss. Your opinion on the matter is neither important or valued! You are dismissed and a disgrace to this city!"
And there you are. APD's problems for all to see.

Some forget the John Milton quote "They also serve who only stand and wait".
The woman who posted that may have mental issues. I think the more important quotes were made by City Councilor Dan Lewis. Any person who seeks reason in their life needs to read his comments and probably not vote for him in the future. This is what happens when you mix religion and politics.
Tribalism; complete with a vengeful god to get you if you dissent. If they don't shoot you first.
No wonder the police are on edge when they get to work, ready to blow away the first person who looks at them cross eyed.
Lynette Hoisington - a wife of an APD officer and frequent poster on many websites about officers as well as the former founder of an pro-APD facebook page (fans of the APD). Too bad she continues to harass people on line without putting her name on it.
Don Harris should allow the interim city attorney to speak for herself instead of inserting himself into a legal case that has nothing to do him unless he, too, was at Ms. Han's home.
On behalf of the regular readers of this blog, I apologize for Lynette Hoisington and her outburst and thank you for continuing to inform readers of issues that matter. I don't always agree with you but I am always a little smarter for having read your blog.
"extreme liberal heartless"
This was Councilor Dan Lewis' comment to you. Lewis just lost my vote, although he probably will receive the votes of all evangelicals. How can pointing out that none of us feel the same pain when a solid waste worker dies, makes you a heartless liberal?
I think we can see clearly, If you are not religious and evangelical Lewis will not represent you. He is apparently disgusted by those who think for themselves and accept reason over faith.
I noticed that Victor Tafoya and Hoisington either removed their ugly comments toward you, or they were edited out by the Journal.
She's been drinking Ripple again and playing with power saws..
Jim, don't be too upset with Lynette. One has to comprehend what is written after one "reads". It's apparent this lady only reads because she can. Keep on keeping on Jim!!
I've been to that page twice and both times noticed comments had been removed. I didn't contemplate the Journal doing it, but it's a good possibility they'd come along and excise the cussing and frothing.
I figured it was people cooling off, having second thoughts and frantically rushing back to the computer in horror, as I've been wont to do.
But in instances involving celebrities and well known people it never works. An alert, on the ball citizen has already taken a screen shot, and your indiscretion lives on in infamy. Just ask Ms Hoisington.
Lynette is a Sociopath who is not even smart enough to use a screen name that can't be connected to her when stalking people on the internet. She tries to threaten investigations on people, yet she is the one who should be investigated. She really is a nobody who has nothing and seeks validation through her out of control mouth on tbe internet.
Her husband is APD Southwest Impact Team Sergeant Lance Hoisington. Clearly in step with the community.
Dan Lewis has aligned himself with an irate APD sergeant's wife who spews nothing but hate and venom. Way to go DAN!
Dan Lewis caters to the oil and gas folks no different than Gov. Susana Martinez. His company is all about fuel supply and he is the vice president. Information about his company and his bio is here:
http://desertfuels.com/about/the-desert-fuels-team/
As a citizen of Albuquerque, I worry about the KAFB fuel contamination and the massive interests that oil and gas has in NM - enough to deter most companies interested in solar power - except maybe Elon Musk and his company SolarCity.
I read Mr. Lewis comments on the abqjournal page where he claims that he isn't partisan and then claims he was the first councilor to demand investigation into APD. His investment in oil and gas shows he is nothing more than a Republican looking out for his pocket book and using Bible passages to get people to trust him -- in short, he is a snake oil salesman who is either late or absent to most city council meetings.
