Suggestion

This is a picture of Rio Grande Blvd. northbound at Mountain Rd.  This is the main gateway to Old Town, the  Museum of Albuquerque, Explora, and the Natural History Museum.  It is the ugliest gateway possible to that culturally rich part of Albuquerque.

So as a suggestion to the Mayor, maybe with the demise of ART in the near future, you might want to jump on this ugly and dangerous pedestrian intersection.   The patrons of the hotels to the north take their lives in their hands trying to cross here.  Notice the hardly visible cross walks and streets striping?  Perhaps this is being planned already, but  you could speed it up!

Doubt this or any other ugly looking intersection is on the Mayor's radar. Fixing them won't bring any money in, only take it out. The ART project is a joke..... Just imagine when there is a accident or God forbid a fatal accident on Central and the vehicles involved have come to rest in the ART lanes. All traffic comes to a halt and lanes are closed. ART is a bad idea all the way around. There is not enough interest in our transit system as it is now. No one will want to get on ART. It's just a way for Berry to get his buddies more money while he is still in office. Anyone else notice HOW FAST things are moving on ART, when the city drags their feet on other more important projects?

Nice post Jim. Lawsuit for not having the roads striped properly could be expensive. I notice situations like this all over the metro area.

About thirty years ago, the Albuquerque Kiwanis Club donated time, thousands of dollars and many a weekend to work on that intersection where the "Don Francisco De Valadez" statute now stands in front of the water fountain. The Kiwanis Club membership donated money for the water fountain construction and did work on the median entrance themselves. Nothing has been done to the area since.
