No Confidence

Mayor Berry, CAO Perry, and APD Chief Eden have proven to be ineffectual in their jobs.  They have given their best, and it is not good enough.  The City Council has stood by while gun violence, economic decay, and Police problems have devastated our city.   Perhaps it is time for a vote of no confidence to be taken by the Council.

I don't say this lightly.  I have been a Mayor and know just how tough the job can be.  But being a Mayor means more than continually saying the phrase, "thoughts and prayers, " every time another person dies by gunfire.  And it means standing up front to talk about our economy and what needs to be done to pull Albuquerque out of its last place position in every measurement list for prosperity.

The events of the last two days are further hammering Albuquerque's national image into the ground. Our current leadership is helpless and inadequate.

What you don't mention is the fact the media, especially the Journal and Kent Walz, has supported their total incompetence and worked diligently to cover it up. Walz enjoys his role as "Deputy Mayor" and can only maintain it by protecting Berry. This is what happens when you have someone running the city who wasn't elected, vetted, or subjected to a rigorous campaign. Elected officials need an honest, objective media to call them on their mistakes. If they get a free ride, the citizens get screwed. Things are so bad, it is beyond belief!

Bob Clark and Stig at 770 are the worse in not holding their austerity mayor accountable for anything he does. Clark told an APD officer today that the officer was "politicizing" the officer shooting when the APD officer pointed out that under Berry APD has lost over 400 cops. That there are not enough cops to do the work and to cover each other. POLITICIZING! Bob Clark should be ashamed of himself. They demand accountability from everyone but their austerity buddies. I refuse to listen to 770 again until Clark issues an apology.

You actually think any one of the Democrats, let alone any one of the Republicans, on the City Council would ever vote no confidence in Berry, Eden or Perry??? Rob Perry would just bully the City Council and shame them and all 9 Councillors would fold like a cheap suite. Two years ago, there was a 19% voter turnout in the Mayor’s race and an 8% voter turn out just a few weeks ago. Berry still enjoys high polling numbers and would still get elected today because of the sure apathy and the disconnect voters have and voters in general could care less. Berry agrees with and has the continued and total blind loyalty and financial support of the Chamber of Commerce, NAIOP, the Economic Forum, and the NM Business coalition, all business organizations that promote their own self interests while the general public be damned. Berry and these 4 organizations are against any and all taxes, oppose any and all increases in the minimum wage, they have a disdain for government and government employees in general and they want right to work laws. Albuquerque’s business community embodied by these 4 business organizations could care less about APD, public safety and high crime rates so long as they can control Berry and City Hall and get what they want. The voting public needs to wake up. A vote of no confidence by the City Council would be as worthless as tits on a boar.

Individual City Councillors should be calling for Eden and Perry's resignations and recall petitions for Berry should be circulated, perhaps then you would get their attention. Watch Berry run for re-election when a poll is done showing he can not win for Governor or US Senate.

Clark has been unlistenable for a long time. The Stig is also quickly approaching that mark too. I
don't understand why 770KKOB is so quick to provide this administration with a comfortable platform. Did you catch the Edeb interview with Stig attempting to justify APD's executive staff bonuses by claiming they are no different than the firefighters who qualify for longevity according to their bargaining agreement? One has nothing to do with the other.

What you also don't mention is the ineptitude of the state legislature to pass laws that allow criminals to bail out quickly on serious felony charges. Having worked with the legislature I believe it is time for they to be held accountable especially those who are attorneys who make their living representing criminals. They and especially I mean senator Michael Sanchez responsible. He is the senate majority leader and member of the judicial committee that has repeatedly stalled legislation that would assist in dealing with this issue. After all, it is about money and the impact such legislation would impact their private practices. I

Eden and Berry point to the "system" and blame it for our crime. Don't any of you forget, both Eden and Berry are long time members of this same system. Berry was a legislator for four years and mayor now for 6. What has he done? Nothing but blame others. Eden has been a government bureaucrat for decades. NM Taxation MVD Director, US Marshall, NM DPS Cabinet Secretary, just to name a few of the bull shit dog and pony positions he has held. And what did he do while in those positions to fix this system? Nothing. Berry and Eden are the problem.
