M'eh

The ABQ Journal did a dual endorsement today of Colon and Lewis for Mayor.  Downright bizarre.  They endorsed this way because in their editorial board's twisted logic they must think it hurts Tim Keller.  Does it?  I think  it actually could help  Keller a little bit as it divides non Keller types that the Journal influences into spreading out their vote.  Does that make sense?

No matter what, Keller is in the runoff.

The one candidate who holds an office that is tasked to account for govt funds and who is the ONLY candidate to have actually brought accountability to govt gets snubbed in favor of a fundraiser and another guy who has benefited from pay to play deals while on city council.

Makes total sense in AbqJournal land.

Speaking of votes, don't even try to commit voter fraud in New Mexico. After I left the co-op the other morning I was driving up Menaul and passed that big city warehouse where they always have the early voting. I've been reading a lot about the candidates and automatically pulled in and went inside to vote. The nice lady at the table, however, wouldn't let me. She claimed I didn't live in Albuquerque. After thinking about it and thinking about how I'd moved to the South Valley awhile back, I had to admit she was right.

Viva Colon! The next Mayor of Burque. Can't be any worse than Baca, Marty, Saavedra, Berry and all the others..no. Have not had a decent mayor in this town since Harry Kinney.

I think the Urinal is hedging their bets. They prefer Lewis, but they are signalling to their Republican base that they can live with Colon in a runoff. Business interests hate Tim Keller because they fear that he will hurt them, and that they won't be able to negotiate productively with him. I think those fears are probably overblown, but they're not completely unfounded.
