Poignant

The front page of the Albuquerque Journal was surely poignant today. The picture of the collapsed bridge over the Mississippi in Minneapolis was situated next to a headline saying that 147 billion more dollars were being budgeted for Iraq. By 2012 bush will have set in place over a trillion dollars for his illegal and immoral war. In the meantime America's infrastructure crumbles.

I had coffee with a friend this morning who was near the giant steam explosion last month in New York City. She said some of her colleagues told her that the steam system that runs New York City is over 100 years old and hasn't been replaced because money wasn't available.

We all see things that need improvement every day, from streets to aging power plants and distribution systems. But, it will all turn out badly with loss of life if we don't reinvest in our country. It won't happen unless America loses its "Warrior" mentality.
