Berry and the City had its first public forum on reforming APD. About 20 citizens showed up with about 40 cops. The meeting lasted one hour. Berry speaks with no questions and answers. Berry and Eden both go before the Chamber of Commerce and they tell the audience all of APDs problems are just part of a national problem being expierenced by other Cities and Departments across the country and says we need a dialogue to solve APD problems, but once again no questions or answers. Berry is all public relations with no substance. The DOJ actually found APD has a "culture of violence", yet Berry continues to deny or take any responsibility for what has happened to APD during the last 5 years. PATHETIC. You can not have a dialogue as long as only one side talks and also refuses to admit we have a problem unique to Albuquerque. It is going to be a long 3 years until Berry finally leaves office.

I see there's an updated story about that meeting on the Journal's website that omits most of Berry's quotes about our police violence being just one of those things, like the coming of autumn weather, which almost made me vomit when I read them. He was saying we're a just a typical city when it comes to our police.

There are other cities with problems but not most. What's disheartening is to hear that kind of leadership. Nothing is going to change on his account. Maybe on account of the Department of Justice.
