Not Incestuous

Janet Blair lasted just about a year on the job as PR flack for the Albuquerque Police Department.  She said that she and Chief Eden agreed she wasn't a 'good fit' for the job.  Now,  that just brings to mind all sorts of things.  Probably, we will never know the details because Janet Blair, a formerly hard nosed reporter, won't spill the beans.

But I know what happened.  She was not the product of inbreeding with in the department's career ladder.  She was from the 'outside', and this is precisely why she didn't fit.  The Command structure at APD couldn't tolerate someone who wouldn't drink the Kool Aid.

Janet didn't last 6 months.

Eden is the one who needs to be fired, along with Berry. They have destroyed this police department

The APD does not need a PIO it has a Chief and several Deputy Chiefs that can do the PIO job. They are getting paid a lot of money to put on a uniform and drive to the main station each day sit at their desks Monday through Friday, 0800 to 1700 MAYBE... Or maybe the new Major position can be the PIO's for crying out loud. A total waste of $90,000 thats for sure.

We agreed that this isn't really working out for you so go pack your stuff and leave. Please she was fired.

I was surprised that Janet took the position in the first place. She was always an incisive, honest reporter, not one who would have any tolerance for transmitting the lies and doublespeak that pass for "transparency" in this administration. Probably Eden and Berry mistook her tough demeanor for that of a kindred spirit for APD without understanding what she really is. Perhaps, with DOJ investigating, she may have thought she could "make a difference." But the depth of corruption and interweaving of APD, the Admin, and the State can't be overcome short of a catastrophic failure somewhere in their system. She takes the standard high road in leaving and you're right that she won't spill the beans, but you can bet she knows plenty.

Janet Blair did NOT last even a full six months as APD Public Information Officer. She started on the job May 6, 2014 and was very effective befor that as the PR person for the Metro Court. Her resignation from APD was somewhat cryptic when she said her job with APD was "not a good fit", which says alot and that Berry, Eden and Perry did not see eye to eye with her on how the media and full disclosure should be handled. During Marty Chavez's first term, she was PIO and did an excellant job at "crisis management" always demanding full disclosure and cooperation with the media. With Berry, Perry and Eden, you can bet they wanted to control the media, the message and not release anything and Janet Blair could not go along with it so she was asked to leave or be fired.

These are some good comments. I'd add that Barry won re-election in a landslide so has no reason to modify the inbreeding at the police department.

This is another reminder that political power doesn't come through the ballot box, where the choices are limited and manufactured. The only change at APD so far has been these citizens meetings, which were only started as a result of people being in the streets and demonstrating at council meetings and the media covering it.

If that kind of pressure isn't kept on the mayor he will negotiate as he pleases with the Department of Justice, because, again, he won in a landslide. He sees no other obstacle in front of him, now or for his future, except the people and they aren't able to express their opinion by voting.

As a Democrat, I received mailers about how the Republican party is trying to limit the Hispanic vote and how we should vote yes to marijuana.

Okay, but this seems like money ill spent. Why not send flyers about how Gary King is the only answer to the Martinez corporate machine? The Democratic party must put some $ to support Gary. It is shameful that our party has chosen not to do so.

"The Democratic party must put some $ to support Gary." As usual, I don't think the state Party has any money. The national party is practicing triage, and putting their money where it will make a difference. Susana has millions of dollars, and the major media in NM, so it is probably hopeless. However, many groups are working to get out the Dem. voters for the rest of the ticket.
