Take Names

It is time to take names on this impending budget impasse.  Although spending cuts have been agreed on the republicans are insisting in putting in policy issues that gut environmental protection and lessen women's rights on controlling their own reproductive choices.  So, it is easy too see that this is really about business profits and religious fundamentalist belief.  It is almost too hard to deal with.

What's going on in Washington is beyond description and demoralizing. My Dad, a WWII veteran, says he has never seen it this bad. And you're right, it's about money, neocon doctrine and self serving interests. Outrageous!

These Republicans in the house are hell bent on destroying any and all legislation passed in the last 30 years on the environment and other critical issues affecting Americans. They have put riders into the 2011 budget that eliminate women's rights and the EPA, guaranteeing that a budget agreement will not be reached. With Paul Ryan's 2012 budget proposal, the Republicans and Tea Party-backed candidates want to wipe out Medicare and give a huge tax break to the wealthiest Americans by lowering the top tax bracket from 35% to 25%. These people want to shut down the government for narrow partisan reasons. The economy is slowly recovering but that's the last thing these right wingers want because Obama and the Democrats will benefit in 2012 if the economy gets better. They don't care about us working and retired folks because the Billionaires don't need "recovery".

The CBO estimates increases to the federal budget of $3.1 billion in 2012 alone if the Affordable Health Care Act is repealed and partially defunded in the House Republican Budget Bill (HR1) and that is only the start. Look at some of the Riders in their bill here: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/04/07/964415/-The-GOPs-ideological-budget-fight-will-increase-federal-spending
