My Hero

Leslie Linthicum of the Albuquerque Journal is my latest hero. On the front page of the Sunday edition she called a spade a spade.....something I wanted to do the last few days but cowered away from. She called the people hanging around in the park where that young child died at the hand of his mother as nothing more than people purveying what she called "grief porn." I could not have thought up a better term for it if I had tried for the rest of my life. Of course, the TV News Media ate it up the 'porn' by aiding and abetting these people who never knew the child by making them into victims. Printing T shirts and weeping for the cameras. When will TV reporters live up to their responsibilities?(Don't you get it....you have less viewers every month because of this crap)

I have railed before about my dislike for 'professional victims.' These folks in the park win the Oscar for their activities.

P.S. When will the Albuquerque Police Department stop making public the 911 tapes of frantic calls that report these crimes. This stuff is sick and of course the TV folks like it. But so does the Journal who put it on the front of their Web site as a video.

911 calls are public records and not excepted from the NM Inspection of Public Records Act. It would require that another exception to the law be created.

good luck on that one.
