Tucson

I'm in Tucson playing golf. Last night the city Council in Tucson voted to require registration and background checks of people buying guns at private Gun shows. And then I looked in the Albuquerque Journal website today and find out the gun nuts are carrying assault rifles into the state legislature. I wonder if New Mexico's becoming crazier than Arizona.

Wait until that story gets discovered. I don't see it anywhere on the internet yet. Maybe because the headline doesn't contain the words "gun" or "gun nut" or "slobbering blathering idiots." Very clever of the Journal.

Coincidentally, I just a read a story that calls Arizona a Kookocracy.

I'd put Susana Martinez up against Jan Brewer, provided Susana Martinez starts wearing bananas on her head, but Joe Arpaio is in a league of his own.

I've been thinking about Tucson and its new gun law. Sometimes there's an oasis of sanity in the red sea of stupidity. Austin is supposed to be like that in Texas, and Salt Lake City in Utah where they had one of the most progressive mayors around a few years back, Rocky Anderson.

An organized Hispanic community in Tucson has been out front in the fight against those draconian education policies pushed through the tea bagger legislature that, for example, outlaw teaching Hispanic history in Arizona public schools and banned a bunch of good books. Maybe they had something to do with the city council's actions.

Try the Triple T truck stop on I-40 on the east side if you're looking for somewhat decent food and somewhat less than decent service.

That's I-10 down there isn't it?. I've got I-40 on the brain. I spend most of my life on I-40. For the past two years that's been my home. I'm going to miss I-40 if I ever get off of it.
