Hawks

As the war hawks scream for action of some sort on Putin's Russia marching into the Crimea, just think of one thing.  That would be the fact that the U.S. has troops in over one hundred and fifty countries around the world.  These hawks are so arrogant and have such a double standard that they won't connect the two issues.  They will now fight harder than ever to keep building tanks an combat planes that we don't need.

Here is a nifty little chart to remind you where the militarists are supreme.  Click on it to make it large.

In keeping with your chart, which shows Russia's military expenditures as a sliver compared to those of the US, the Washington Post has an article about the capabilities of Russia's Crimean ground and naval forces, and there's not much capability there.

This reality of course isn't reflected in the hyperbolic rhetoric coming from Republicans today, that Putin is on the verge of taking over the world, and I don't really see it being corrected anywhere.

This is off topic but I am hoping you will address it. KRQE is reporting that ex APD Chief Ray Schultz has admitted to working for Taser while he was still on the city payroll. Schultz was on early retirement from September to December 2013. This means he was on sick and vacation time but he is still a city employee receiving a biweekly city paycheck. All rules and laws still apply to him. Schultz admitted he started working for Taser in October 2013, while still receiving a city paycheck. This violates city ordinance. It also violates the ordinance that states Schultz is prohibited from working for a city vendor within 12 months of actual retirement. And to add insult to injury in summer 2013 Schultz signed a city contract with Taser, the largest in city history at $1,900,000! This reeks of kickbacks and Schultz admitted he is violating city ordinance. We need a grassroots effort to demand a criminal investigation and to demand that the city council and Mayor Berry suspend the Taser contract. I am sick and tired of the laws only applying to the little people. Schultz confessed to KRQE that he is violating the law. Schultz should be prosecuted and the Taser contract suspended.
